It’s a simple way to share your experience and encourage others to join the rewarding journey of egg donation. Plus, there’s no limit to how many friends you can refer, giving you unlimited earning potential while helping others.

The Egg Donation Process

Becoming an egg donor is a rewarding journey that involves several detailed steps. Here’s step-by-step guide:

  • Step.1

    Sign Up as a Donor

    • Begin by filling out our online application with basic personal information including age, height, health history, and lifestyle habits.
    • If accepted, you will be asked to complete a more detailed questionnaire
-This will cover your medical history, family background, education, and other personal attributes.
-You will also need to provide us with photos for your donor profile. This profile will be used for matching with intended parents or egg banks.
  • Step.2

Match with Recipients or Accepted by Egg Banks

    • Your profile will be presented to potential recipients (intended parents “IPs”) who are looking for a donor with your characteristics. This process might take a few weeks to several months, depending on demand.
    • Another option for those who wish to begin the donation process immediately is to work with an egg bank. Lemon Tree collaborates with several reputable egg banks that will store eggs and make them available to IPs at a later time. With egg banks the donation process can start immediately upon acceptance.

    Step.2

  • Step.3

    Medical Screening

    • Initial Medical Evaluation:
-You’ll meet with a fertility specialist who will explain the process, answer any questions, and assess your suitability as a donor.
-You will undergo genetic screening to identify any potential hereditary issues that could affect the donation.
-A comprehensive physical examination, including transvaginal ultrasound, will be performed to check your reproductive health.
-Bloodwork will be conducted to evaluate hormone levels, screen for infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, hepatitis) and drug panel.
    • Psychological Evaluation:
-You’ll meet with a psychologist or counselor to discuss the psychological implications of egg donation. This ensures that you are mentally and emotionally prepared for the process.
-The counselor may also assess your understanding of the process and your motivations for donating.
    • Final Approval: If you pass all medical and psychological evaluations, you’ll be officially approved as a donor.
  • Step.4

    Legal Process

    • You’ll meet with an attorney to review the legal agreements associated with egg donation. This includes issues of confidentiality, parental rights, and compensation.
    • After reviewing and agreeing to the legal aspects, you’ll sign a contract that formalizes your role as a donor. This contract ensures your rights and responsibilities are clearly defined, including your agreement to waive any future parental claims to the eggs or resulting offspring.

    Step.4

  • Step.5

    Travel and Egg Retrieval

    • If needed, travel, lodging and meals on a per diam allowance, will be provided so you can stay near the fertility center during the donation cycle.
    • Once you arrive you will go to the fertility center to begin a series of daily hormone injections, lasting typically 10-14 days. The injections will stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
    • After the first injection you’ll be closely monitored every few days with blood tests and ultrasounds to track your body’s response. Once the eggs are mature, you’ll receive a trigger shot to prepare for egg retrieval. This injection signals the body to release the eggs from the follicles.
    • Approximately 36 hours after the trigger shot, you’ll undergo a minor surgical procedure to retrieve the eggs. This is done under sedation or light anesthesia and involves using a thin needle, guided by ultrasound, to collect the eggs from your ovaries. After the procedure, you’ll rest in the clinic for a short time before going home. Mild discomfort or bloating is common, but most donors recover quickly.

Each step is carefully managed by medical professionals and legal experts to ensure that you’re supported, informed, and comfortable throughout the entire egg donation process.

We compensate egg donors starting at $8,000 for completing their first donation cycle. If you choose to donate eggs again, the compensation increases to at least $12,000. In some cases, egg donor compensation can exceed $60,000.

Women often turn to donor eggs for conception due to factors such as premature ovarian failure, genetic diseases, and IVF setbacks. These eggs provide hope and an opportunity for families to overcome these challenges.

Each egg donor’s experience may vary, but most of our egg donors only report mild discomfort during the egg donation process.

On average, the hormone injections begin about two weeks before the anticipated egg retrieval. Feel free to check out our detailed guide on the egg donation process.

A woman can donate eggs up to six times in their lifetime, following guidelines recommended by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

No. We only provide intended parents with anonymous egg donors profiles, with needed information and photos. We never share any personal contact information. The recipients will not even know your name.

Potential side effects of egg donation include nausea, temporary weight gain, bloating, and mood swings. These side effects from ovarian stimulation typically occur in less than five percent of egg donation cycles. During screening more details can be provided by the physician.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, you will only need to travel to our fertility center located in South California. If you are an international or out-of-state donor, we will cover the cost of travel expenses.

Disqualifying factors include age, positive infectious disease status, substance abuse, mental health history, low ovarian reserve, a non-standard BMI, and severe genetic mutations.

Donors are required to visit clinics several times for routine monitoring during the medication stimulation. Typically, clinic hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm and each visit lasts 30 minutes to 2 hours. However, you can schedule clinic appointments earlier outside of normal hours to better fit your schedule.

Absolutely. However, certain forms of birth control will need to be removed such as Nexplanon. When you register, we will ask what kind of birth control you are taking and instruct you on how to proceed.
